Testing AI Agents' Compliance with Rules: An Experiment
The results of an experiment testing AI agents' compliance with rules were surprising. Significant data was obtained on the impact of mechanical barriers.
Over the past two months, I developed a mechanical verification system for my AI coding agent. The experiment, which involved 150 standardized tasks, demonstrated that mechanically enforcing rules was more effective than self-assessment by the agent. The results showed a 0% violation rate between the two rule formats tested.
