Security Mining Report: Challenges in Val Town
Exploring security challenges in Val Town and new threats in modern web applications.
One of the best aspects of working at small companies is the variety. Over the past few months, I've taken on the role of security expert at Val Town. Thanks to modern web frameworks, traditional threats like XSS and SQL injection are no longer significant issues. However, new challenges such as Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) and timing vulnerabilities have emerged. Dependency management has also become complex, with most security reports relating to unused dependencies in production. This necessitates a deeper understanding of vulnerabilities and a focus on reducing dependency bloat.
