Weird Machines in Transport Layer Security
Explore latent computational capabilities in Transport Layer Security.
Weird machines are latent computational capabilities arising from the combination of architectural components. This study extends the theory to Transport Layer Security (TLS) handshakes and their main implementations, OpenSSL and BoringSSL. It shows that legitimate TLS primitives can form Turing-complete systems linked to authentication and trust decisions.
